Bone Screws Measurement
Bone screws in orthopaedics are used for attachment of implants to the bone, bone to bone fixation or for soft tissue fixation or anchorage. Mostly made of Titanium, these screws are specially designed with threads that maximize initial contact, enhance surface area, dissipate and distribute mechanical load. Depending on the application and function, the bone screws have different designs.
A basic bone screw has four parts: Core, Threads, Head and Tip. The manufacturer of bone screws need to closely inspect and measure them to ensure that each parameter of the screw is as per the specified design.
